We attended the 2024 Active Kent & Medway Conference, an event dedicated to championing inclusivity in physical activity. This year’s theme, “Move Together to promote equality, value diversity, support inclusion,” resonated with over 180 professionals from health, leisure, local council, voluntary, sport, and activity sectors.

The conference was an inspiring space where we engaged in meaningful discussions about how we can collaborate to create more inclusive environments for people of all backgrounds and abilities. It was also a powerful opportunity to reflect on the current inequalities that prevent some from accessing the mental and physical benefits of regular physical activity.

One of the standout moments was hearing how the different sectors are working together to support those who are already active while also tackling the barriers many face to leading more active lives. These barriers can range from lack of accessible facilities, socioeconomic challenges, to cultural stigmas around physical activity.

We were particularly moved by the stories shared and the innovative approaches being developed to make activity more accessible. Whether it’s through local initiatives, creating more inclusive policies, or fostering partnerships across various sectors, we are committed to doing our part in promoting active, healthy lifestyles for all.

As we move forward, we’re excited to implement some of the insights gained from this conference. By working together and continuing to advocate for equality, diversity, and inclusion, we believe we can help more people across Kent and Medway enjoy the incredible benefits of physical activity.

Stay tuned to our website for updates on how we’re incorporating these ideas into our upcoming programs and initiatives. Let’s continue to #MoveTogether and create a healthier, more inclusive future for all.
