The Faversham Town U19 Academy’s first season in the Tactic League T3 East has finished and we could not be more proud of the boys!

A mid-table finish usually would not be something to shout about, but considering it has been the first season of the academy set-up and with some changes with management, the lads did really well.

The season kicked off with a nail-biting 2-2 draw away to Chatham Town FC to bag Faversham’s first point of the season.

This was followed up with an impressive 8-1 victory in front of the home crowd against SEFA Sheppey United, to secure the first 3 points of the campaign.

Faversham impressively continued their unbeaten run with a rewarding 2-1 win against Teknika Pro Quest and took confidence going into the second away game of the season against Platform Sports FC (Glenthorne). Unfortunately, this confidence could not translate into a performance worthy of the win, and Faversham were handed their first loss of the season, 5-2.

The lads did not let this loss become a habit and instantly bounced back a week later with a 5-4 home victory against JFS Development, the boys were back on track!

Following on from this, due to pitch conditions Faversham’s scheduled away fixture was rearranged to be played at home, and the team did not let the home crowd down. A 3-1 win saw Faversham take 13 points from a possible 18 in an impressive start to the season.

Following on from this win, unfortunately, the boys seemed to lose some of the momentum they had built up in the last couple of weeks due to a fixture cancellation.

This resulted in Faversham, unfortunately, tasting defeat for the second and third time consecutively this season away to Teknika Pro Riddlesdown and eventual league champions Folkestone Invicta FC, respectively.

Heading into the second half of the season, Faversham and Chatham faced off once more in the reverse home fixture, which certainly did not disappoint for the neutral! Unfortunately for Faversham, the game ended 4-5 in favour of the away team.

Dan Stimpson was appointed Academy head coach and found his first win against Platform Sports FC (Glenthorne), which saw the lads come away victorious with a last-minute winner and in a game which saw Faversham’s keeper save 2 penalties! An impressive performance!

Faversham went on to draw the following fixture, then win away to Horley Town Football Academy after this, which were the final points of the season for the lads.

After the season ended, the lads finished the season in 6th place, with 26 points, and a record of 8 – 2 – 8.

Plenty of positives to take from this season, with a lot to work on as Faversham has their eye on promotion next year!
