Sports Connect is proud to celebrate Community Coach Aron, who has been named a finalist for the prestigious UK Coaching Awards in the Young Coach of the Year category.

At just 20 years old, Aron is already making a significant impact in his community, using sport as a tool to bring people together, build confidence and create positive opportunities for people of all backgrounds.

Aron works with young people across schools, family hubs and community settings, as well as adults from refugee communities for whom English is not their first language. Through his coaching, he creates inclusive and welcoming environments where everyone feels valued, heard and encouraged to participate.

His approach places people at the heart of every session. Rather than simply delivering activities, Aron empowers participants to take an active role in their development by designing games, creating their own rules and exploring different ways to develop their skills. This helps build confidence, encourage creativity and ensure that sport remains accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Beyond the sport, Aron also recognises the importance of mental health and wellbeing. By speaking openly about these topics, he helps create supportive environments where individuals feel comfortable expressing themselves. His ability to build trusted relationships within the community allows him to recognise when young people may need additional support, demonstrating the wider role that coaches can play in people’s lives.

Aron’s nomination is particularly special for Sports Connect, as his journey began as one of our own students. Now, alongside his university studies, he has returned to work with us as a Community Coach, using his experiences to inspire and support others.

His progression from student to coach reflects the opportunities that sport and education can create, demonstrating how the right environment, encouragement and support can help young people develop their skills, discover their potential and build a meaningful future.

At Sports Connect, we believe sport is about much more than what happens on the within games. It is about creating opportunities, strengthening communities and helping people develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed. Aron embodies these values through his work every day.

Being named a finalist for Young Coach of the Year is a fantastic achievement and recognition of the dedication, compassion and positive influence he brings to his role.

Everyone at Sports Connect would like to congratulate Aron on this well-deserved recognition. We are incredibly proud of how far he has come and look forward to seeing what he achieves next.

His journey is a brilliant example of how today’s students can become tomorrow’s coaches, leaders and role models.
