In June, our team had an incredible weekend soaking up the sunshine at the Kent Police Open Day. The event was bustling with excitement, and we were thrilled to be a part of it. On Saturday, we welcomed over 150 participants, ranging in age from 4 to 45, to play in our soccerena. It was heartwarming to see people of all ages come together to enjoy the beautiful game. We worked closely with the Kent and Medway Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), sending participants back and forth to gather information about what the VRU, Sports Connect, and other branches of Kent Police do between football games.
Monday saw over 50 primary schools join the festivities. Many of the children eagerly participated in four-minute football matches, after which we encouraged them to visit various stalls around the site. They gathered information and shared their newfound knowledge with us, creating a dynamic and interactive learning experience.
Throughout the weekend, we were treated to impressive displays by Kent Police, including police dog demonstrations, public order showcases, taser displays, and helicopter flyovers. All in all, it was an absolutely fantastic weekend of events, filled with learning, fun, and community spirit.
