Sports Connect are excited to announce the launch of their new Post-16 education provision based at the Northdown Family Hub, Margate. Designed to offer a tailored educational experience, this referral-only programme is set to provide a supportive and flexible environment for learners, focusing on personal growth. Following an initial investment from Thanet District Council via the Shared Prosperity Fund, the community and education teams have worked with local services to build projects and provision.

“An Education Site to Fit You”

At Sports Connect, we believe that education should be as unique as the learner. Our new site at Northdown Family Hub embodies this by offering a bespoke curriculum designed to fit the individual needs and aspirations of each learner. The programme has no entry requirements, and emphasises small group learning with a maximum of six learners per day, ensuring personalised support.

Programme Highlights:

  • Referral-Only Admission: Each new applicant will be referred through Sports Connects registration form. If Northdown is not the right fit, applicants will be guided to apply for other suitable Sports Connect sites.
  • Small Group Setting: With a capacity of no more than six learners per day, the programme offers an intimate, supportive learning environment.
  • Flexible Scheduling: The provision operates three days a week, with flexible scheduling to accommodate the diverse needs of our learners.
  • Dedicated Support: With a staffing ratio of 2:1, learners will receive comprehensive support from Sports Connect experienced staff.
  • Personalised Learning Journey: Each learner will embark on a two-week 1-2-1 consultation period to assess their needs and preferences, followed by integration into the Northdown group environment.

Two Pathways for Progression:

Education Route: Learners can progress into further education tailored to their goals. This may be within Sports Connects network of Education sites or externally too.

Community Route: Learners can transition into the community team, paving the way for employment opportunities within Sports Connect and beyond by gaining industry standard qualifications.

Creating Unique Learning Journeys:

The bespoke curriculum allows learners to choose from a range of subjects and activities outlined in the Northdown Family Hub site Provision brochure. This ensures that each learner’s educational journey is tailored to their interests and aspirations, providing a pathway that truly suits their needs.
